Hi local folks! If at all possible, carve out some time in your schedule to attend Monmouth and/or Independence City Council Meetings and Town Halls. (The next Monmouth City Council Meeting is Aug 17, 6:30, City Hall. Next Town Hall is Sept 24.)

It’s disappointing to see such low turnouts for these events. It takes intention & time to be present and I understand that’s a challenge, but there are things going on in both towns that need your attention. Even if you don’t live ‘in town’, city government decisions affect you & your families. And what happens in Monmouth affects Indy and vice versa. You can also watch via YouTube, but there’s something about being in the room if you can.

It’s our civic duty to be aware of what’s going on at every level of government. I’ve been guilty of having my head in the sand and that’s not a good place to be.
