Good rainy morning! For those of us in the NW, it’s like seeing an old friend when we hear the raindrops on the roof!

And, funny enough, it’s time to hit the streets - knocking on your doors, having a short chat & sharing info about me - to earn your vote November 3. (Ballots drop mid-October - please go ahead & vote early!)

Last night was Monmouth City Council meeting night. I know everyone doesn’t have a couple of hours two Tuesdays a month to go - but I urge you to find this one on the City of Monmouth YouTube page - fast forward to the last item on the Business Agenda (at about the 2:00:33 mark) and listen carefully. It’s about our city budget & errors that were made at the end of fiscal year 2025, that are affecting us now. Pay attention to who speaks, what they say & who are silent. Think about what’s happening in Independence. And let’s not allow that to happen in Monmouth.

Budgets & financial management are critical - in our personal lives and in our government. Excuses are unacceptable. Bad & unexpected things happen. How we deal with it matters, especially when it concerns an entire town.

Think about these things as you consider incumbents & candidates this election cycle.

Our current mayor has been in office almost 8 years - she’s running for her 5th term. Councilors on the ballot this year have been there almost 8 & 16 years.

Too long? Lost their focus for who they work for?

You decide.
